Pain management in the Elderly

Description

Managing pain in the elderly patient is complex and complicated. The presence of multiple co-morbidities and aging physical, cognitive decline also increases the complexity of pain management.

Join Dr Charles Chou, Pain Specialist, to develop a safe and therapeutic approach to managing these patients in the community.

  1. Review the incidence and prevalence of pain in the elderly population
  2. Review the most common types of pain, highlighting barriers to effective pain management
  3. Discuss individualised pain management, using varied pharmacological agents and how to implement this in practice 
  4. Review interventional pain management treatment options and which patient is best suited to them.
