Atrial Fibrillation: What should I do first

Description

Atrial Fibrillation (AF) is the most common arrhythmia seen in general practice. Recent data suggests that over 5% of the population over the age of 55 may have this condition, with as many as one in three strokes that may be caused by "silent, subclinical AF".

Join Dr John Hayes, from the AF Institute, to learn more about AF and what GPs should do once they identify AF in their patients.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Recall the incidence and prevalence of Atrial Fibrillation (AF) in General Practice
  2. Recall current and novel diagnostic tools available for use in general practice to identify AF
  3. Identify management strategies to reduce risk of thromboembolic events
  4. Identify current treatment modalities for AF and identify referral pathways.
