1. Become cognizant of new applications for transesophageal echocardiography
2. Recognise how the transesophageal echocardiography can be used in current perioperative applications, such as identification of the cause of hypoxemia, identification of any extracardiac cause of hemodynamic instability and monitoring of splanchnic and renal perfusion
3. Understand where the new areas of developments in perioperative applications are.
