Obesity and Bariatric ERAS Safe Analgesia and PONV Control - Dr Lan-Hoa Lê

Description

In this seminar, Dr Lê identifies the key driver for post-operative nausea and vomiting (PONV) control and safe analgesia. Additionally she describes how to implement (i) a PONV protocol (PONV sticker) and (ii) mobilisation as a safe analgesia method in laparoscopic obesity and bariatric surgery. Dr Lê formulates a treatment goal for safe analgesia. 


Learning Outcomes

  1. Identify the key driver for post-operative nausea & vomiting (PONV) control and safe analgesia
  2.  Establish, in the audit presented, what determinants control PONV to reduce length of stay: (i) TIVA (Total intravenous anaesthesia) or inhalational general anaesthesia? (ii) opioid-free anaesthesia? (iii) deep neuromuscular blocking (NMB)? And (iv) intravenous therapy (IVF) hydration
  3. Decide how to implement a PONV protocol (PONV sticker)  
  4. Determine how to implement mobilisation as a safe analgesia method in laparoscopic obesity and bariatric surgery
  5. Formulate the treatment goal for safe analgesia.
