Systemic Lupus Erythematosus: An update

Description

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a chronic multisystem autoimmune disease predominantly affecting women of childbearing age. In this module an overview of the key advances made in the diagnosis and management of this challenging disease, based on a review of recently published literature in peer-reviewed journals and international guidelines, is presented.

 


Learning Outcomes

  1. Recognise new classification criteria for SLE with greater sensitivity and therefore improve the diagnostic certainty for some patients
  2. Be aware of the consequences of uncontrolled disease activity and early and sustained control measure
  3. Select available therapies, which aim to improve the quality of care of patients with SLE.
