Finding accredited CPD
The known role of HPV in the development of cervical cancer provides opportunity to implement primary (vaccination) and secondary (surveillance) strategies for its prevention. In July 2022, the eligibility for screening on a self-collected sample was expanded to include all people eligible for cervical screening. Since the wider access to self-collected vaginal swabs was introduced, RACGP’s NewsGP reports a doubling each quarter from 28 per 100,000 population in Q3 2022 to 114 per 100,000 population. This activity is intended to assist the participating GP with timely management of their patients who have a self-collected HPV DNA test that detects an oncogenic HPV type or an unsatisfactory result.
