Iron Deficiency and New Insights into Therapy

Description

Iron deficiency (ID) is a deficit in total body iron which, when severe, can lead to iron deficiency anaemia (IDA).

This module discusses causes, effects, diagnosis and management of ID.

 


Learning Outcomes

  1. Review iron studies as an overall picture and identifying cause of iron deficiency, as well monitoring and prescribing of effective iron replacement therapies
  2. Recognise life-threatening situations, initiating blood transfusions followed by appropriate iron replacement therapies.
