The Dermatological Emergencies, Vitiligo Treatments, and Infestations course equips healthcare professionals with the knowledge to address a spectrum of dermatological conditions. Structured into three units, the course blends evidence-based content with practical tools for effective patient care.

Unit 1: Dermatological Emergencies
This unit focuses on identifying and managing life-threatening dermatological conditions. Participants will learn to recognise the clinical features, complications, and treatment pathways for emergencies such as erythroderma, DRESS syndrome, necrotizing fasciitis, staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome (SSSS), meningococcal infections, and Stevens-Johnson Syndrome/Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (SJS/TEN).   • Diagnostic features and differential diagnosis of dermatological emergencies.
  • Investigation protocols, including histopathology and serology.
  • Comprehensive management strategies, including systemic treatments and supportive care.

This unit emphasises the importance of early recognition and multidisciplinary intervention to prevent severe outcomes.

Unit 2: Vitiligo Treatments
Participants explore the autoimmune nature of vitiligo, its clinical presentation, and emerging treatment modalities. This unit provides a thorough understanding of the challenges and advancements in managing vitiligo. Key topics include:

  • Pathophysiology and classification of vitiligo.
  • Associations with other autoimmune disorders and relevant screenings.
  • Treatment options, including topical therapies, phototherapy, and surgical interventions.
  • Innovative therapies such as JAK inhibitors and depigmentation techniques.

The unit also addresses the psychosocial impact of vitiligo, equipping professionals to provide compassionate, patient-centred care.

Unit 3: Infestations
This unit covers the diagnosis and treatment of common and rare infestations affecting the skin. Participants will learn to identify conditions such as candidiasis, scabies, strongyloidiasis, cutaneous larva migrans, schistosomiasis, and leishmaniasis. Key topics include:

  • Clinical features, diagnostic tools, and dermoscopic techniques for infestations.
  • Pharmacological and non-pharmacological management strategies.
