Vulvar skin diseases

Description

The Vulvar Skin Diseases course is structured into a detailed unit that examines both pigmented and inflammatory conditions of the vulvar skin, providing healthcare professionals with critical diagnostic and management knowledge.

Pigmented Lesions:
This section focuses on both benign and malignant pigmented lesions, such as melanosis, seborrheic keratosis, and angiokeratomas. The course also covers more serious conditions like melanoma and Paget’s disease. Participants will learn to distinguish between benign and malignant presentations using dermoscopic criteria such as the cobblestone and cerebriform patterns. The importance of early detection of vulvar melanoma and the role of confocal microscopy in enhancing diagnostic accuracy is emphasised.

Inflammatory Skin Diseases:
Inflammatory conditions like eczema, psoriasis, lichen planus, and lichen sclerosus are explored in this section. Participants will learn to recognise the characteristic signs of these diseases, such as the sharp borders of psoriasis or the atrophy associated with lichen sclerosus. The course provides detailed information on treatment options, including the use of topical steroids for long-term management of chronic conditions.

This course equips practitioners with the tools to diagnose, treat, and manage a wide array of vulvar skin diseases, promoting better patient outcomes through early intervention and evidence-based care.
