This course consists of one detailed unit:
Unit 1: Family Planning Consultation and Contraceptive Options
This unit provides an in-depth look at conducting family planning consultations. It begins with an approach to information gathering, considering factors such as efficacy, compliance, medical history, and financial considerations. Participants will explore a wide range of contraceptive options, including combined oral contraceptives, progestogen-only pills, and long-acting reversible contraceptives like IUDs and implants. The unit also addresses emergency contraception, its effectiveness, and safety profiles. Guidance is provided on tailoring contraception plans based on the Medical Eligibility Criteria (MEC), with discussions on managing side effects and patient follow-up.
