Unit 2: Healing by Second Intention The second unit focuses on managing wounds that heal by second intention, where the wound is left open to heal naturally. Participants will learn debridement techniques for removing dead or infected tissue and applying appropriate dressings. Case studies illustrate the process, emphasising the importance of elevation, proper dressing selection, and long-term care for optimal healing. The course discusses the decision-making process for wound management, including the potential use of skin grafting and managing diabetic patients​.
