Finding accredited CPD
Skin cancer remains a major public health concern in Australia. It is estimated that around 80% of all newly diagnosed cancers in Australia are skin cancers, and general practitioners manage over one million patient consultations for skin cancer each year. Australia has one of the highest incidences of skin cancer in the world, with rates two to three times higher than those reported in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom. Each year, doctors in Australia perform approximately 720,000 excisions or removals of skin lesions that are suspected to be cancerous.
The surgical audit is designed to assist participants to refine their diagnostic skills and enhance their surgical skills while expanding the surgical options for treatment. This is achieved by way of feedback on the participant’s diagnosis of skin lesions in their patients as well as comparative data on the best surgical treatments options. Reflecting on the participants results should build confidence in their ability to better manage patients with skin cancers requiring surgical intervention.
