Breast, Bowel and Cervical Cancer Screening: Clinical Education Course

Description

Healthcare providers are at the frontline to promote cancer screening to increase participation rates, and in doing so, save lives. It is vital that healthcare providers play an active role in encouraging and endorsing participation in cancer screening and promoting the importance of early detection to their patients.

This education activity provides the latest information and guidelines on the national screening programs for breast, bowel, and cervical cancer. This includes the barriers and enablers to screening, how to promote screening within clinical practice, and strategies that focus on underscreened populations and their cultural safety. The aim is to equip healthcare providers with the skills to effectively promote and encourage participation and thereby reduce morbidity and mortality across bowel, breast, and cervical cancer.


Learning Outcomes

  1. Outline the importance of healthcare provider endorsement in influencing patients’ decisions to participate in cancer screening programs
  2. Apply culturally safe practice and provide equitable access for underscreened population groups
  3. Provide high quality, appropriate referral to screening and assessment services
  4. Implement quality improvements to practice systems to identify underscreened patients
  5. Identify opportunities for data driven Quality Improvement related to improving cancer screening.
