Breast Reconstruction: Who, When, What and Why

Description

This webinar will cover breast reconstruction in breast cancer patients. The aim of this informative presentation is to outline clinical factors which may affect decisions to proceed with breast reconstruction, and give you a better understanding to help your breast patients who are seeking guidance for these procedures.

This is online webinar is suitable for all healthcare practitioners (medical, nursing and allied health staff) who are involved in the care of breast cancer patients. We will cover a variety of issues such as who are suitable for reconstruction, when should reconstruction occur, what are the options available to patients and how do these patients recover. Like any surgery, the decision to proceed and the type of reconstruction requires a thorough assessment of both the patient’s medical history, but also their lifestyle requirements, as all reconstructions come with pros and cons.

This webinar will be presented by Dr Lily Vrtik, a Brisbane-based plastic surgeon who subspecialises in both cosmetic and reconstructive breast surgery. She works in both the public and private sector in Brisbane. She is currently clinical lead for breast reconstruction waitlist in Metro-South and is actively involved in the oncoplastic multidisciplinary clinic at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. Dr Vrtik is also heavily involved in the cosmetic surgery regulation reforms, as well as advocacy for public safety in cosmetic surgery.
