Managing Compassion Fatigue, Burnout and Vicarious Trauma

Doctors are trained to care deeply for other people - but what about the impact this has on wellbeing? Repeated exposure to other people's trauma, suffering and high stakes decision making can take a toll on your own mental health and patient care. 

This evidence based and practical course teaches us the internal and external signs and symptoms of compassion fatigue, burnout and vicarious trauma and what strategies we can apply to protect our own mental health. 


Learning Outcomes

  1. Recognise signs and symptoms of burnout, compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma 
  2. Learn strategies to cope with stress
  3. Learn the importance of "drain off" and how to do it
  4. Implement sustainable boundaries and recovery practices 
  5. Create their own self-care wheel 
  6. Create their own mental health care plan.
