Paediatric Continence Elective Module 1: Daytime Continence

Description

Assessment and management of daytime lower urinary tract dysfunction is the first of seven electives in the Paediatric Continence course. This module will cover:

  • initial assessment of daytime LUT dysfunction
  • further assessment of daytime LUT function
  • advanced assessment of daytime LUT function
  • urotherapy

NOTE: You must complete the core unit, Introduction to Paediatric Continence before undertaking any of the electives.You will be able to enrol in this module, however will not be granted access until the core module is completed.

Topic 1 Initial assessment of daytime lower urinary tract dysfunction (LUT):
  • History taking 
  • Physical examination 
  • Obtaining further information   
  • Case study: Ella
This topic will take approximately 55 minutes to complete.
 
Topic 2 Further assessment of lower urinary tract (LUT) function, covers:
  • uroflowmetry  
  • using ultrasound to measure post void residual  
  • further use of ultrasound 
This topic will take approximately 50 minutes to complete.  
 
Topic 3: Advanced assessment of lower urinary tract (LUT) function, covers:
  • Voiding cystourethrogram  
  • Urodynamics 
  • Cystoscopy 
This topic will take approximately 50 minutes to complete.  
 
Topic 4 Urotherapy, covering:
  • Case study: Educating Ella 
  • Standard urotherapy
  • Specific urotherapy interventions
This topic will take approximately 55 minutes to complete.
