Although clinical awareness, cardiac imaging and access to dedicated amyloidosis services have improved, transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM) may remain unrecognised or be diagnosed late. 

Led by Australian and international experts in cardiology, cardiac imaging, heart failure and haematology, this program will explore clinical and echocardiographic red flags, diagnostic and referral pathways, real-world evidence, treatment timing and practical strategies for strengthening multidisciplinary care. Learn to identify opportunities for earlier recognition, more consistent referral and improved coordination of care for patients with suspected ATTR-CM.

Learning Outcomes

1. Recognise clinical and echocardiographic red flags that should raise suspicion of transthyretin amyloid cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM)
2. Apply an appropriate diagnostic approach to suspected ATTR-CM, including selection and interpretation of relevant investigations and exclusion of light-chain amyloidosis
3. Identify patients who warrant escalation or specialist referral and apply appropriate referral triggers within their clinical setting
4. Evaluate contemporary real-world evidence concerning ATTR-CM, including the relationship between earlier diagnosis, treatment timing and patient outcomes
5. Integrate cardiology, cardiac imaging, haematology and other relevant services into coordinated diagnostic and management pathways for patients with suspected or confirmed ATTR-CM
6. Identify practical changes that could reduce diagnostic delays, improve referral consistency and strengthen multidisciplinary ATTR-CM care within their own organisation.
