Through filmed patient consultations, expert commentary and case-based discussion, see how continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) can be introduced and initiated in practice, how key glucose patterns can be interpreted, and how these insights can inform meaningful behavioural and clinical decisions.
Led by a nephrologist and diabetes educator, participants will be guided through the patient journey from identifying patients who may benefit from CGM to discussing monitoring options and confidently analysing and interpreting glucose patterns. Learn how to use glucose data to support patient understanding, behavioural change, and personalised, evidence-based management decisions.
Learning Outcomes
- Explain the limitations of HbA1c and intermittent finger-prick testing in assessing glycaemic variability, post-prandial excursions and behavioural influences
- Identify patients with type 2 diabetes who may benefit from enhanced glucose monitoring, including continuous glucose monitoring
- Introduce available glucose-monitoring options using clear, patient-centred communication and shared decision-making
- Describe a practical workflow for initiating CGM and supporting patients with sensor application and routine use
- Interpret key CGM metrics, including time in range, glycaemic variability, patterns and post-prandial responses
- Translate glucose-monitoring data into meaningful lifestyle, behavioural and evidence-based treatment decisions
- Integrate CGM review, follow-up and appropriate multidisciplinary referral pathways into routine primary care.
