Acupuncture for GPs: Head to Toe

Description

This one-day workshop provides practical medical acupuncture skills for general practice, with a primary focus on lower limb pain management (knee, plantar heel, and ankle) and complementary sessions on Mind Acupuncture for mental health presentations and Command Points in point selection. These conditions are consistently among the most prevalent musculoskeletal complaints encountered in Australian general practice.


Learning Outcomes

  1. Assess knee, plantar heel, and ankle pain presentations, using history and physical examination as primary tools, with a focus on trigger points
  2. Apply YNSA scalp acupuncture for lower limb pain using needles or laser
  3. Describe the principles of Mind Acupuncture for mental health presentations
  4. Apply Command Points in common clinical presentations and point combinations
  5. Use simple acupuncture tools (press needles, laser, jing-well points, xiphisternum point) in GP consultations
  6. Integrate acupuncture techniques safely into general practice.
