Chronic kidney disease

Description

This course is divided into four detailed units:

Unit 1: Introduction, Causes, Definition, and Evaluation
In this unit, participants will learn about the global burden of CKD, common causes such as diabetes and hypertension, and how to define CKD based on glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and kidney damage markers. The unit also covers the evaluation process, including kidney health checks, urine analysis, and diagnostic investigations.

Unit 2: Diagnosis and Management of CKD
This unit focuses on the diagnosis and ongoing management of CKD, including the role of lifestyle interventions, medications, and monitoring. It highlights key strategies for slowing disease progression, such as managing blood pressure, albuminuria, and preventing acute kidney injury.

Unit 3: Complications of CKD
This unit explores the complications that arise in CKD patients, such as anemia, mineral and bone disorders, volume overload, and metabolic acidosis. Participants will learn how to diagnose and manage these complications, which often develop as CKD progresses to advanced stages.

Unit 4: Managing CKD in the Context of Multi-Morbidity
The final unit covers the management of CKD in patients with other chronic conditions like cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Participants will learn about medication adjustments and the importance of managing polypharmacy in CKD patients to avoid adverse effects and improve kidney function.

This course equips healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills to effectively manage CKD, reduce complications, and enhance patient care.
