This course is divided into three key units:
Unit 1: Diagnoses and Sebaceous Cysts
This unit focuses on developing a surgical approach to diagnosing and managing sebaceous cysts. Participants will learn how to evaluate physical signs, assess the location and nature of cysts, and determine whether cysts are infected or inflamed. The unit also includes surgical techniques for excising cysts and managing wound care.
Unit 2: Granuloma, Suppurative Hidradenitis, and Pilar Cysts
In this unit, participants explore the management of granulomas and hidradenitis suppurativa. Detailed demonstrations of excision techniques for pilar cysts and granulomas are provided, emphasising the use of local anaesthesia and handling inflamed tissue. The unit also highlights complications and recurrence risks for hidradenitis.
Unit 3: Lipomas and Abscesses
The final unit covers the surgical excision of lipomas, including both simple and multilobulated lipomas. Participants will learn about abscess drainage, wound closure techniques, and strategies for managing complications like hematomas. The unit also discusses the recurrence of lipomas and the importance of proper technique during excision.
This course equips clinicians with the necessary knowledge and procedural skills to effectively treat common lumps and bumps in clinical practice.
