Opioid free anaesthesia and analgesia: Is it feasible, realistic and relevant to our practice in 2023? - Dr Sultana

In this seminar, Dr Sultana reviews current trends in acute pain management and focuses on the use, avoidance and stewardship of opioids in perioperative period. 


Learning Outcomes

  1. Evaluate the many reasons doctors want to avoid opioids intra-operatively and post-operatively
  2. Identify the role of opioid free anaesthesia in daily practice 
  3. Formulate an evidence-based opioid free anaesthesia regime
  4. Discern the various pharmacologic agents that may be used alone or in combination to successfully avoid opioids intra-operatively
  5. Adapt an opioid sparing regime to their own model of perioperative care.
