Professional Boundaries in Health

Description

What are your professional boundary blind spots? Learn to identify the warning signs that boundaries with a patient may be weakening, and protect your career from an inadvertent boundary violation.

Through this training practitioners will develop an in-depth understanding of what professional boundaries are, what can cause them to weaken, and how to put in place strategies to maintain them. The course covers the key definitions and the importance of language in discussing boundaries with patients and colleagues. It outlines categories of concern and the red flags which help spot problematic boundaries early, and delves into some of the psychodynamic reasons for boundary violations. Real life examples and case studies are discussed throughout, with the course providing detailed information and guidance on what can be learnt from that, along with practical models which clinicians can apply to their everyday practice.

This deep dive into professional boundaries is jointly presented by David Gardner, solicitor and Dr Wendy McIntosh (PhD), one of the most experienced professional boundary educators in Australia.
