Travel medicine e-Learning seminar

Description

Every year, millions of Australians embark on journeys abroad, with Indonesia, New Zealand, USA, UK, and Japan among the most popular destinations. General Practitioners frequently field requests for detailed travel advice to aid in planning a safe and tailored plan for a trip. This plan hinges on various factors such as the travel destination, timing, individual medical history, purpose of the trip and more. This seminar aims to tackle these complexities, arming participants with the knowledge to effectively address travel-related enquiries.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Review current guidelines into clinical practice in providing advice to returned travellers
  2. Identify the symptoms of altitude sickness and implement strategies to identify potentially at-risk travellers with pre-existing medical conditions
  3. Develop a systematic approach to improving patient safety in assessing travel health risks for travellers based on the individual, destination and travel duration
  4. Identify the range of potential medical problems faced by divers
  5. Identify best practice resources to provide travellers with pre-travel health advice and vaccination recommendations.
