A free, self-paced introduction to responsible AI use for doctors in Australian practice. Short videos and written notes cover AI limitations, evidence checking, patient communication, clinical documentation, AI scribes, privacy, consent and professional accountability. The course emphasises reviewing outputs before use and recognising when tools are unsuitable.

Format: Online and self-paced: 26 short video lessons in six modules (about 85 minutes of video), each with written notes and links to the relevant Australian guidance. Estimated learning time, including the notes and linked readings, is 2 hours.

Modules: how AI works and safe use; study, evidence and exam preparation; patients who arrive with AI answers; everyday GP applications and checking outputs; AI scribes, consent and note review; legal and professional guardrails, including Ahpra, privacy, TGA and indemnity.

Target audience: Doctors working in or preparing for Australian practice, including GP registrars, international medical graduates and supervisors.

Educator: Dr Roman Pathak, Australian general practitioner and medical educator. Narration uses an AI version of Dr Pathak's own voice, as disclosed in the course.

Learning Outcomes

1. Explain the limitations of large language models and apply safe prompting
2. Verify AI-generated evidence, documentation and patient information before use
3. Respond appropriately to patients' AI-generated claims
4. Apply consent, privacy, transparency and accountability principles to AI use, including AI scribes
5. Assess data handling, regulatory considerations, indemnity and practice-policy requirements for AI tools.
