Headache Masterclass Part 2: What else matters in migraine

This educational video is the second in a four-part Headache Masterclass brought to you by Australia and New Zealand Headache Society (ANZHS).

This session builds on the case from session one, exploring the role of clinical support tools that assist patient and practitioner in assessing migraine patterns and common comorbidities including:

  • Mood disorders
  • Sleep disorders
  • Musculoskeletal conditions

A panel led by neurologist Dr Emma Foster, comprising of Neurologist Dr Mia Minen, Sleep Psychologist Dr Frank Cahill, Physiotherapists Professor Robert Delcanho and Mr Evin Scanlon and GP Dr Anita Muñoz explore the clinical application of support tools and comorbidity management in general practice. Evin Scanlon demonstrates a guided activity that targets musculoskeletal tension in the upper body that can be used with migraine sufferers.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Describe the bi-directional relationships that exist between mood and sleep disorders and migraine/headache.
  2. Outline the relationship between temporomandibular joint disorders and musculoskeletal conditions and migraine/headache.
  3. List the validated clinical support tools that can be used in assessing and diagnosing migraine and its comorbidities.
