Navigating Menopause in Primary Care

Description

Menopause is a common and complex condition to manage in Primary Care. It affects half of the population and carries considerable morbidity and mortality if not treated appropriately in the community.

Join GP Specialist, Dr Elizabeth Rayment, as she shares information about managing women in the community and your GP practice.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Review the incidence, prevalence, and clinical presentation of menopause and perimenopause in Australian women, including the range of vasomotor, psychological, genitourinary, and cognitive symptoms
  2. Improve confidence in diagnosing menopause clinically and in assessing red flags and differential diagnoses, including abnormal bleeding, cardiovascular risk, and mental health concerns
  3. Apply evidence-based treatment strategies for managing menopausal symptoms in general practice, including the safe and appropriate use of menopausal hormone therapy (MHT), non-hormonal alternatives, and referral criteria for complex cases.
